How to choose the correct bathroom basin

With so many beautiful and diverse bathroom basins to choose from, it’s common for people to not know where to start when it comes to their home renovations or updating their current home designs.

Some key aspects to keep in mind are which bathroom you are shopping for, who will be using the bathroom as well as how much space you have to work with. Undermount basins speak for themselves, they sit underneath the countertop and are perfect for family bathrooms. This is a great option when wanting a seamless look and something that is easy to clean. However, these basins do end up costing much more than top-mount basins.

Top-mount basins are compatible with most countertop materials as the cut-out is completely covered by the basin, eliminating the risk of potential water damage. As with the countertop basin, you cannot wipe water straight into the basin, therefore, making it more difficult to clean. These types of basins are perfect for a master bathroom.

Integrated basins and countertops refer to a design where the basin is moulded into the countertop and can be made from many different materials. These basins are very easy to clean and are a popular choice when it comes to modern home renovations. These designs are usually slanted downwards to create the basin in the middle, leaving you with less flat counter space to work with around the actual basin.

Wall-mounted basins are fitted directly to a wall without needing a countertop. These give a fantastic minimalist look and feel to a room. These basins do not usually have cabinets below them, allowing you to save on space. With this type of basin, the plumbing needs to be hidden inside the wall, so that it is not visible from the bathroom itself. With that being said, you will not have much storage space. These basins are commonly used when working with small spaces.

As you can tell, there are many different basin designs, each with its own pros and cons. When wanting to upgrade your home design or kitchen design, you will need to evaluate the space you are working with and decide which style of basin will work best for you.
