Pandemic-friendly New Year’s Eve Ideas

2020 has been long! And if you’re like us, all you want to do is celebrate the end of the year and welcome in the new year! But the pandemic isn’t over yet, and most of us aren’t ready to go back to our regular ways of celebrating New Year’s.

Besides venue restrictions, social distancing measures, and masks, it’s time to think of creative ways to bring in the New Year, where you’re safe. Say goodbye to overpriced cocktails and excessive entry fees! Put on your party hat and have a look at some of the creative ways to bring in 2021!

Experiment in the kitchen
If 2020 saw you purchasing a new kitchen, get in there and use it! Try something you’ve never done before, and enjoy the fruits of your labour afterwards with family or a small group of friends.

Stargazing
You don’t even need to leave your house for this one. Take the blankets into the backyard, grab a few snacks and drinks, and stargaze your way into 2021.

At-home photobooth
This is great for little ones! Get props, a backdrop, and set up an at-home photo booth where it feels like you’re having selfies taken at a party.

Fireworks
Start the virtual fireworks early. YouTube is full of firework shows, where you can experience that feeling in the comfort of your home.

PJ Party
You could go as cliché as matching pj’s for the whole family or have a few friends come over in the pajamas. Who says you need to dress up just because it’s New Year’s Eve?

Pre-Pandemic Soiree
Keep it small and intimate and invite a small group of friends over in black-tie attire. Order junk food from your favourite takeaway restaurant and eat it like a pre-pandemic soiree!

Super Sweet
Instead of canapes or savouries, have mini versions of desserts to snack on all evening long.

Screen time marathon
If you’re after something lowkey that you and your partner can enjoy, do a movie marathon of all your most-loved classics with popcorn, wine, and snacks.

Quiz night
Not many things beat quiz night! Especially if you have friends involved. Ask everyone to come prepared with a game and play all night long.
